Taking a broadly global approach to religious interactions, the ERiC Summer School of the Käte Hamburger Kolleg (KHK) at the Ruhr University Bochum examines the theme "Eurasian Religions in Contact".

As in the last two years, this year’s summer school on "Eurasian Religions in Contact" (ERiC) will be held in Bochum, Germany. The general aim of the school is to translate and transmit the research of this theme conducted by senior scholars into knowledge which benefits junior researchers. The ERiC Summer School offers advanced student of graduate standing working on topics of religious interaction the opportunity to explore important questions for studying religious contacts.

Two specific goals guide the work of ERiC:
1. Provide and assess exemplary case studies of intra- and inter-religious encounters in Eurasia (which may be extended to include Africa or the colonial Americas) without limitation regarding specific disciplines, timelines, and geographical frame;
2. Discuss current theoretical frameworks and critical approaches to the study of religious encounters from comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Alongside research on the ground, young researchers will have the opportunity to present their own research and receive constructive feedback from their peers and together with internationally renowned scholars.

The Käte Hamburger Kolleg and the Ruhr University Bochum offer a limited number of scholarships to attend the summer school scheduled to take place in Bochum from the 20 to 28 July. As part of this scholarship, we will cover your travel expenses and accommodation and provide some provisions. However, interested applicants are encouraged to seek financial support from their home institutions or elsewhere.

Applicants are requested to submit their applications online as well as the following documents: a description of the current research project, CV and a statement explaining the motivation for applying and your expectation how you might benefit from the summer school, and the names and contact details of two referees.

The online application form will be online from 12 February 2015 under http://www.eric.ceres.rub.de/en/application/

Referees must send their references directly to the director of the summer school, Prof. Dr. Adam Knobler (adam.knobler@rub.de). Applicants are responsible for the timely submission of their references.
